DORA Metrics as Leadership Signals
Deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate and MTTR are decision signals — not vanity scores.
DORA metrics help engineering leaders see whether the system is getting healthier over time.
They become useful when paired with qualitative signals: team health, incident learning quality, and whether verification is catching risk before customers do.
The goal is not to chase numbers. The goal is to choose better interventions.
